My journey with the class of 2010 began at the Belfast orientation and then being reunited at Dublin Airport for our departing flight to New York where we caught a connecting flight to Washington DC. It was on that flight I gained a new experience as I had never travelled by plane before! The first of many new experiences to come. I finally understood what a really hot day was when we got onto our connecting flight in New York which was delayed for what seemed like hours and in temperatures I had only experienced in a sauna! But enough complaining, We landed in the DC to be greeted by a mass of WIP host families all who seemed extremely excited to see us and we were equally excited too. John Friel and I found the very welcoming Kent and Dale Morrison who kindly brought us out for a meal at their local restaurant. The week a really busy one but I really enjoyed it, We got to know each other and had some fun along the way. We were brought on a tour of the city by Dave and Barbara Warner who are a participating host family. The tour brought us to the White House , Then on to the Vietnam memorial followed by the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and finally the George Washington memorial. We also done some voluntary work on Sunday with Hortans Kids which was great fun, It involved supervising kids at a pool during one of their field trips. The week has been great and everybody in DC has been so welcoming and especially Kent and Dale Morrison who really have treated me and John like part of the family for which we are really grateful.
