INITIATIVES
WIP encourages it’s students to give back. In 2001, as a result of their experience in Washington DC, students from WIP established their own award-winning charity, the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES). YES is a community mentoring programme whose main objective is to promote social inclusion amongst children aged 11–14 from diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Each year YES gains new volunteers from WIP; it is a charity administered and sustained by alums of the Program.
In 2007 WIP setup a grants scheme to encourage and support further alumni initiatives, like YES, that will make a difference to communities across Ireland.
Full reports on all WIP’s initiatives will appear here soon.
